GVTC and UWU of Sri Lanka Jointly Hosted Online Academic Workshops

To meet the needs of establishing international programs for our "High-Level Vocational College" project, on November 25th, 2021, School of Agriculture and Engineering linked up Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka to jointly conduct "Silk Road Tea Institute" Construction and Tea Academic Online Workshop. Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka is a national university of Sri Lanka, specialized in researching Ceylon black tea, one of the three major black teas in the world. This conference aimed to establish connection with Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, discuss the plan for online workshops of experts from both parties, sign a memorandum of understanding, discuss the establishment of "Silk Road Tea Institute", deepen and broaden the educational and collabrative communication. The workshop was hosted by Enhai CHEN, Secretary of the General Party Branch and Dean of School of Agriculture and Engineering, and Hongmei ZHAO, Dean of College of International Education. Teachers of Tea Teaching and Research Center, Professor Wasantha Senevirathna, Director of Export-oriented Agriculture of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka, and his teacher team also attended this workshop. 


On the workshop, attending leaders of both China and Sri Lanka respectively introduced the basic information of their college and the establishment progress of Department of Tea, as well as communicating and discussing academically the planting and processing of tea and enhancement of tea added values. Both parties hoped to carry out formal schooling and short-term exchange and training through the joint establishment of Silk Road Tea Institute, providing more opportunities of tea culture exchange for students from both countries and spreading good Chinese tea culture in international exchange.
