GVTC Invited Dr.Hayat Ullah, professor of the Asian Institute of Technology to Deliver an Online Tea Culture Masterclass

On the morning of April 14, 2023, the School of Agriculture Engineering of GVTC invited Dr. Hayat Ullah, from the Asian Institute of Technology, to deliver an online Silk Road Tea Culture Masterclass for teachers and students of the major group of Tea Tree Cultivation and Tea Leaf Processing. This international lecture is one of the serial academic lectures of Silk Road Tea Institute, which is part of our college's ‘Double High-levels Plan’ internationalization project for the Tea Tree Cultivation and Tea Leaves Processing discipline. The lecture aims to build an international platform for tea culture exchange and interaction, expand the international perspective of teachers and students of the major group for tea industry, and promote the international development of the college. Over 100 students from Tea Production and Processing Technology major, and Horticultural techniques major of the School of Agriculture and Engineering participated in this academic lecture.

Dr. Ullah delivered a presentation on the topic of "Nursery Management and Field Plantation" to the faculty and students of our school. Began with the current situation of global tea production and consumption, he introduced the methods of tea garden nursery management and transplantation in detail. The content covered aspects such as tea variety breeding, nursery environment, soil conditions, fertilization and weed control, and pest management. During the Q&A session, Dr. Hayat expressed his hope for future exchanges and collaborations between both parties in the field of ecological organic tea plantation and management, and jointly explore and develop ecological tea industry, promoting the sustainable development of the tea industry.

 

The lecture provided a rich and in-depth knowledge-sharing opportunity in the professional field from an international perspective for the teachers and students of the major group. It not only enhanced the international vision of faculty and students of the professional group but also improved students' understanding of tea garden management. Furthermore, it also broadened the academic vision and innovative thinking of the teaching team. Overall, this lecture has achieved a outcome as expected.
