On November 15, Guangxi Vocational and Technical College and Malaysia’s Multimedia University (MMU) held the unveiling ceremony and an exchange symposium for the Silk Road Tea Institute. Vice President ZHOU Zhi attended the event, together with leaders and faculty representatives from the School of Agricultural Engineering and the School of International Education. Representatives from MMU’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence & Engineering and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges also participated. During the event, the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The establishment of the Silk Road Tea Institute marks a new chapter in comprehensive cooperation between the two universities in tea culture education, scientific research and innovation, and international people-to-people exchange.

During the symposium, Vice President ZHOU Zhi delivered a speech on behalf of the college, introducing its history, educational orientation, and overall development. Dean HUANG Zhibin of MMU’s Faculty of Artificial Intelligence & Engineering shared the core objectives and vision for the cooperation. Witnessed by the attendees, representatives of both institutions signed the MOU, after which Vice President Zhou and Dean Huang jointly unveiled the Silk Road Tea Institute.

This cooperation will leverage Guangxi Vocational and Technical College’s strengths in tea studies and the preservation and transmission of intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, while integrating MMU’s resources in information technology and global communication to build a cross-disciplinary ecosystem combining culture and technology. The establishment of the Silk Road Tea Institute not only provides a stable platform for long-term cooperation, but also helps promote the creative development and wider dissemination of Chinese tea culture in the ASEAN region under the Belt and Road Initiative.
